At the meeting, the BBBF was delighted to announce the re-appointment of Pengiran Aki Ismasufian Bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim as the Chair of the organisation for another term.
Pg Aki is the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank and has been an active member of Britain Brunei Business Forum for a number of years. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and is committed to continue leading the forum towards continued growth and success.
Mr Ambrose Nathan was re-appointed as Honorary Treasurer and Ms Miriam Wolber was re-appointed as the Honorary Secretary. Ms Alisa Khoo and Ms Zeti Amin were elected as the forum’s newest Committee members following the retirement of two Committee members.
At his Welcoming Remarks, His Excellency John Virgoe, British High Commissioner said, “Congratulations to Pengiran Aki and the newly appointed committee members on their well-deserved appointments. I extend my best wishes to the Britain Brunei Business Forum for a successful year ahead. The BBBF and its members play a crucial role in fostering economic cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the UK, and I am confident that under Pengiran Aki’s leadership, the forum will continue to thrive.”
Pengiran Aki, the new Chair of the BBBF said, “I am honoured to have been re-appointed to lead Britain Brunei Business Forum as Chair for another term and I look forward to working closely with our committee members to further our mission of supporting local and UK businesses. Our forum has a vital role to play in promoting closer economic links between Brunei Darussalam and the UK and I am excited to be a part of this effort.”
Pg Aki continued, “It is of particular importance that our AGM falls on International Women’s Day with its theme of “Inspire Inclusion”. The BBBF celebrates the achievements of women in all areas of society and promote gender equality, not only in our forum, but in the companies which we collectively represent. Notably, we have achieved a balanced ratio of male to female members in our executive committee, reaching 50% female representation in 2024.”
