The AGM took place on Wednesday 15 March at the Residence of HE Mr David Campbell, British High Commissioner to Brunei. Mr Campbell and his team also kindly provided us with dinner afterwards and the opportunity to spend the rest of the evening networking at leisure with other members and guests.
This was an extremely well-attended event which began with words of welcome and introductory remarks from the High Commissioner. Chairman Andrew Varley then presented the Treasurer’s Report in Lyndsay Rajah’s absence. Membership has increased, whilst costs remain well under control, providing us with a healthy bank balance. Andrew’s own report followed, recording a highly successful programme of events and expressing thanks to all those who have actively supported both him and the BBBF over the past year.
A new Committee of 12 members was elected as follows:
Chairman: William Martin
Treasurer: Lyndsay Rajah
Secretary: Charles Ting
General Committee: Ben Boddy, Ambrose Nathan, Siva Sivarajah, Andrew Caie, Pg. Aki Ibrahim, Christopher Webb, Daniel Roberts, Yvonne Kuan and Dr. Colin Ong
William Martin, as our new Chairman, then offered some thoughts on the way ahead for the BBBF, welcoming aboard new Committee members and explaining how the new Committee would share responsibilities more evenly, hopefully working effectively as an integrated team. He also expressed our thanks to outgoing Chairman, Andrew Varley, for his hard work as both Secretary and latterly as Chairman for two years. He presented Andrew with a small souvenir gift from the BBBF as a token of appreciation.
Andrew Varley will be with us until he returns to the UK later this year. Meanwhile he will be giving a talk of his own to the BBBF on aviation safety on Thursday 13 April at the Rizqun Hotel. Please don’t miss it.
Our particular thanks go to HE Mr David Campbell for his generous hospitality and support in making this AGM and networking event such an unqualified success.
