A Virtual Audience – Tuesday, 30 March 2021
The Britain Brunei Business Forum (BBBF) jointly with the British High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan held a Virtual Audience on Tuesday, 30 March 2021 at Laksamana College of Business in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Speakers at this event were:
Mark Garnier MP, UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Brunei & Ken O’Flaherty, UK Government’s COP26 Regional Ambassador to Asia Pacific & South Asia, who both spoke to the audience remotely from the United Kingdom and Italy.
Present in Bandar Seri Begawan were Her Excellency Natalie Gowers-Barnes, Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr Siva Subramaniam, Chair of Britain Brunei Business Forum, its Executive Committee and BBBF members.
Also present were representatives from various Government sectors, diplomatic corps, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), BEDB and Brunei Climate Change Secretariat.
Mark Garnier shared his experience as the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy, including his thoughts on areas of future UK-Brunei and UK-ASEAN collaboration.
Ken O’Flaherty spoke about the UK’s Presidency of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) and the Race to Zero Campaign, which seeks business and education institutions to be net zero by 2050.
A lively Q&A session followed with active participation from the audience. The event was moderated and chaired by Allen Lai, Director ASEAN & Corporate Affairs, UK-ASEAN Business Council.
