At the first Speaker Meeting of 2016, members were treated to a fascinating expose by Mike Cotterill, International Business Director, Security for QinetiQ in the Asia Pacific and Middle East at Laksamana College of Business. In his talk, Mike offered a revealing and sobering glimpse of what is really going on in “cyberspace”. One of his interesting conclusions was that, in many cases, cyber wars are taking the place of conventional wars, and that there’s always something we can do to make sure that our information (often the most valuable resource in our business) is safeguarded as much as possible.
The number of questions from the audience both in the meeting room and during the networking session afterwards showed that Mike’s content had clearly resonated with everyone present. To help members review their IT security, Mike also passed out a useful checklist to what to think about when reviewing IT security. A copy of this is available for download here.
Our thanks go to Andrew Caie, for organising an excellent opening to the year’s Speaker Meeting lineup and to Siva Subramaniam for hosting the event.
